Healthy Hydroponics at CGC 2022
The Canadian Greenhouse Conference is one of the most important conferences for anyone in the indoor agriculture industry. CGC is regarded as “Canada’s foremost event for commercial greenhouse flower, vegetable, cannabis, berry and nursery growers” (1) because of the quality of the exhibits and the number of people that come to network. The team from Healthy Hydroponics Innotech was happy to have been part of a successful conference!
Our AgriScience Advisor, Tanya Irani, was invited to speak about early pathogen detection at the Forward Thinking session on day two of the conference. She presented how to use the Healthy Hydroponics’ Growers’ Portal, which helps growers track pathogens even before they can see symptoms of diseases. On the exhibitor floor, we talked with growers from vegetable, fruit, ornamental, and cannabis farms. Many growers were fascinated with our Pathogen Mini and Pathogen+ services because they were looking for an affordable and accurate way to detect pathogens and manage diseases in their farms. Moreover, growers were interested in the Growers’ Portal as it provided easy-to-use reports that growers can integrate with IPM strategies. Other visitors were interested in what microbes may be lurking in their systems; one grower showed us pictures of an unknown growth in their water even after UV treatment and hydrogen peroxide! If you have similar concerns about pathogens or if there is a problem in your system that you cannot figure out, our Pathogen+ service may be the right solution.
Other noteworthy mentions were the lovely networking dinner at Table Rock House Restaurant, meeting new people during Happy Hour, and the excellent new cultivated varieties at New Variety Showcase.
