PRESS RELEASE: Healthy Hydroponics InnoTech and SGS Crop Science Canada Announce Strategic Partnership to Revolutionize Disease Detection in CEA

Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, October 15, 2024 – Healthy Hydroponics and SGS Crop Science are excited to announce a new partnership that promises to bring innovative crop protection services to greenhouse growers. By combining their expertise and advanced technologies, the two companies are working together to provide comprehensive testing solutions that will benefit growers, agrochemical companies, propagators, and other key stakeholders in the agricultural industry.

Healthy Hydroponics InnoTech provides advanced pathogen tracking services through its online portal, allowing growers to detect and monitor a wide range of pathogens, even before symptoms appear. This early detection system offers crucial insights into disease risk, empowering growers to take preventative measures. SGS, a global leader in inspection, verification, testing, and certification, brings decades of experience delivering advanced agricultural testing solutions through its Crop Science arm. With a worldwide presence, SGS is committed to ensuring the safety and quality of products across industries, including agriculture. Together, the two laboratories plan to expand their offerings by introducing their own advanced testing methods to growers in the CEA space.

This partnership is driven by a shared goal: offering the most reliable, science-backed solutions to help growers protect their crops and increase sustainability. Both laboratories are located in close proximity and are driven by the desire to help growers identify and implement sustainable agricultural practices through the refinement of agricultural inputs.

As part of this collaboration, SGS will now provide Healthy Hydroponics services to its clients, including the innovative Fungal Complete Scan. This test allows growers to detect and measure up to 400 different fungal pathogens, giving them a clear picture of what’s happening in their systems. Additionally, SGS will offer Healthy Hydroponics’ Pathogen+ and Pathogen Mini services, expanding the options available to growers. Healthy Hydroponics will now also offer SGS testing solutions to their clients to ensure they have the full picture of how different factors affect yield, disease risk, and much more in the greenhouse.

By staying ahead of rapid advances in genomic technologies, SGS and Healthy Hydroponics are positioned at the forefront of agricultural innovation. About Healthy Hydroponics Innotech

Founded in 2022 in Waterloo, Ontario, Healthy Hydroponics was initially a Metagenom Bio Life Science Inc. project funded by the Canadian Agricultural Partnership to determine the baseline microbiome in hydroponic systems in the context of crop protection and food safety. Since then, the team has worked with growers in Canada and the USA to demonstrate the benefits of routine microbiome surveillance. Healthy Hydroponics’ services are unique; they permit the tracking of a multitude of pathogens, even in the absence of symptoms, providing indications of disease potential. The team has also worked hard to create a virtual tool to help growers keep track of the history of pathogens in their hydroponic systems in an easy way to interpret and make decisions.
